From Despair to Healing: IHHN Restores Life in Flood-Hit Muzaffargarh

Shabana Bibi, a resilient mother of two from Muzaffargarh District, lived a simple yet peaceful life before the devastating floods. As a daily wage labourer, she worked tirelessly to support her family. Life was hard, but it was steady, until one terrifying night when torrential rains unleashed a flood that swept everything away.

“The water rose so quickly,” she recalls. “That night was the darkest night of my life because our house was swept away by floodwaters.”

By morning, her world had changed. Her home had collapsed, her belongings were gone, and the land she relied on for survival lay submerged under deep water. In the days that followed, her family was trapped in a sea of stagnant floodwater: hungry, sick, and hopeless.

Weeks later, help arrived in the form of the Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) flood relief team. Equipped with mobile medical units and trained health care professionals, IHHN reached remote communities like Shabana’s, bringing not just medicine, but humanity.

“We were given free medicines and checked by doctors who spoke to us kindly. It felt like someone finally remembered us,” says Shabana, tears filling her eyes.

Through its flood relief and mobile health programme, IHHN provided critical medical care, safe deliveries, and treatment for waterborne diseases to thousands displaced by the floods.

For Shabana, this care meant survival, and a renewed sense of hope.Today, she continues rebuilding her life, her gratitude unwavering. “Please keep helping families like ours,” she says. “Your support can save lives.”

In the aftermath of tragedy, IHHN stands with families like Shabana’s, turning despair into healing and devastation into stories of new life.
